But The Evidence Says I'm Right

The real news I see in the Obama statement is that there may be an encouraging evolution in his position on Iraq: The "rebuttal" shows that the senator no longer shares his party leadership's belief that the United States has lost the war in Iraq.

He now talks of "the prospect of lasting success," perhaps hoping that his own administration would inherit the kudos. And he makes no mention of his running mate Joe Biden's pet project for carving Iraq into three separate states. He has even abandoned his earlier claim that toppling Saddam Hussein was "illegal" and admits that the US-led coalition's presence in Iraq has a legal framework in the shape of the UN mandate.

In his statement on my Post article, Obama no longer talks of "withdrawal" but of "redeployment" and "drawdown" - which is exactly what is happening in Iraq now.

While I am encouraged by the senator's evolution, I must also appeal to him to issue a "cease and desist" plea to the battalions of his sympathizers - who have been threatening me with death and worse in the days since my article appeared.

The article below accusing Obama of asking Iraq to wait until he is elected to negotiate troop withdrawals, and this article, are proof positive of the duplicity of Barack Obama. His clear belief that Americans are too stupid to follow his double dealings is displayed by vaguely acknowledging that the war in Iraq was legally valid under the U.N. Framework in private, while he publicly insists to his supporters that the war was illegal.

Like his earlier statements in Scranton of how much he likes small town America and then in San Francisco where he derides small town America for its bitterness, clinging to guns and religion as a result, his duplicity is clear. There is a famous old saying that you criticize in others the flaws you see in yourself. I think that Barack Obama is a bitter man, who clings to certain delusions to hide his own bitterness.

You cannot trust or believe anything that he says, other than the certainty that he has always aligned himself with communists and socialists, racists and traitors.

This is not the type of person who should lead the most powerful and greatest nation on earth. We tried a socialist once before and we are still paying for Carter's mistakes.
