Lethal Olive Branch

There is something unseemly - and pathetic - about a U.S. president groveling in front of the Middle East's tyrants and tin-pot dictators, asking for their understanding. The fundamental problem in the region is not American mistakes or Mr. Bush's assertive diplomacy, but its theological backwardness and dysfunctional political culture.
[snip]
There is nothing new in Mr. Obama's approach. It amounts to a return to the realpolitik and appeasement of Arab autocracies championed by U.S. administrations since the 1950s - policies that in the long-run have proved disastrous. If the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks should have taught us anything, it is that diplomatic "engagement" with Middle Eastern thugs guarantees neither stability nor peace.
Did the naive and enthusiastic youth who provided one portion of the campaign margin of victory really think that this whole Magic Marxist Messiah image was NEW? 'Hope' and 'change' are a cute advertising campaign. That is proved by the fact that hundreds of companies have grabbed it and are using it to sell products. A couple of other articles just posted today are talking about the Obama White House desire to stop these companies from using their mantra.
'Hope' and 'change' are NOT a governing philosophy. The man who is our President is acting as naive and amateurish as the people who so enthusiastically exhibited their childish adulation of this newest 'Messiah'. Obama is a man who expects love and adoration from the whole world. He thinks this will include our enemies.
Obama has already started the emasculation of the armed forces that liberals always tout. He is cutting the military 10% this year. Like Bill Clinton in the 90s, he will slowly reduce our expenditures. We are at war and Obama wants to cut the military? To replace the military he will, (as he has himself bragged) create a civil police force armed with the power of our military, but reporting to the President alone. This new force will not be prescribed from acting against our own citizens as the military is. How many think conservative and libertarians will be his first targets? Liberals are aghast at any threat to civil liberties of criminals and terrorists but never have a problem with restricting the civil liberties of Republicans.
If you point out that Obama has SAID he will do this, you are called a right wing fanatic. My question is, what did the people who now want to pretend he did not say it think he meant? What do they think Obama feels is important when he reaches out, not to the American people, but to the Islamo-fascists who have declared war against America?
Michael Steele, the new RNC Chairman thinks that Obama is 'patriotic'. I think he is the global socialist that he repeatedly told his followers was his true belief. One of us is wrong. I pray that it is me. I would not bet on it.
