Russia Rattles Sabres
In Obama’s Direction

by Quentin Peel - February 6th, 2009 - Financial Times

Russia and the former Soviet republics of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan – the so-called Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) – have agreed to form a “rapid reaction force” which is intended to be just as good as the equivalent force operated by the Nato alliance, according to President Medvedev.

Outside analysts are sceptical whether any of these moves amounts to a particularly effective military gesture but they are certainly intended to suggest that Russia is not rushing to embrace the new US administration.

The duplicitous arrogant Obama is especially out of his depth with Putin. Bush learned to his dismay that Putin was as much of a master 'chess player' as most Russians are, especially in diplomacy. After his early embarrassment, Bush grew much more cautious with Putin. Obama seems to have learned nothing from that experience. I guess the arrogance that comes from having gulled 52% of America can lead you to think everyone is that stupid.

Russia is using the apparent weakness in Obama's new strategy in the middle east to reassert themselves in Europe. Neither is a good sign that we will avoid the nuclear consequences that should have been our primary foreign policy fear since the Islamo-fascists tried to take down the World Trade Towers in 1993. Clinton got it wrong and they tried again in 2001, successfully. Next time it will not be airplanes. It will be nuclear bombs. Zawahiri has promised it. He, and the rest of the Islamo-fascists, are not kidding. It is not a matter of 'if' but only 'when'! Obama does not appear to 'get it' at all.
