Taliban From Outer Space

A FUNDAMENTAL reason why our intelligence agencies, military leaders and (above all) Washington pols can't understand Afghanistan is that they don't recognize that we're dealing with alien life-forms.

This is a "war of the worlds" in the cultural sense, a head-on collision between civilizations from different galaxies.

And the aliens don't come in peace.

This article suggests a very interesting thought exercise that, if followed by more people, could lead to some useful strategies and tactics which would allow us to emerge from Afghanistan victorious. The proposed exercise? Think of Afghanistan, and especially the Taliban, as a culture from outer space. I doubt that we will get Obama and his pacifist legions to understand that though.
