The Barracuda Bites Back

by J. Peter Freire - October 3rd, 2008 - American Prowler

Prior to last night, the bipartisan conventional wisdom (such as it is in the beltway) was that Palin had energized the base, but after a few bad interviews [actually only two], was about to be the McCain campaigns albatross. Yet it was fairly clear from the start of the show that the Alaskan governor has put to rout all the claims on both sides that she is an embarrassment. She, a hockey mom, small town mayor, and amateur governor, was able to compete with the biggest mouth in the Senate, a lawyer, a 35-year politician. There's nothing embarrassing about that.

Amateur Governor? Even the MSM reporters who pretend to support Governor Palin make comments that clearly indicate their bias.

Katie Couric is a snotty intellectual lightweight. In this article there is a link to a YouTube video of Katie which is so confusing her Face the Nation host keeps trying to help her get it right. Yet she was a typical liberal in the interview with Governor Sarah Palin, putting her down with snide comments.

After Couric edited the interview to present the case Palin was not qualified, a number of conservative writers, themselves slavishly devoted to Washington insider expertise, lost confidence in the popular Alaskan Governor. I didn't for several good reasons.

I remember that Ronald Reagan was a man who had many friends of many years and that is one characteristic of Sarah Palin that is also well known. She has a lot of people who have known her for years who appreciate her loyalty and decency and intelligence. I appreciate those attributes.

I also appreciate her common sense. You have to remember, her detractors are people who believe the following: During the 20th century there was warming on Earth, Mars, Jupiter and the moons of Neptune. In other words, a general warming of the entire solar system. However they are convinced that man caused the warming. That is truly a bizarre hypothesis that flies in the face of reason.

It may well be that man caused the warming on Earth, but no one with common sense would assume that without some rational reason to beieve it. That is not what you would first assume when the entire solar system is warming up. Sarah Palin has common sense. Something in short supply in Washington, especially in the press.
