A 40-Year Wish List

by Staff - January 28th, 2009 - Wall Street Journal

"Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before."

So said White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in November, and Democrats in Congress are certainly taking his advice to heart. The 647-page, $825 billion House legislation is being sold as an economic "stimulus," but now that Democrats have finally released the details we understand Rahm's point much better. This is a political wonder that manages to spend money on just about every pent-up Democratic proposal of the last 40 years.

What shocks me is how some so-called Republicans are "shocked" that Obama would agree to something like this. They have fallen hook line and sinker for the illusion that Obama is more "moderate" than they expected. I have been trying ever since the election to get more of them to read the Saul Alinsky methods in "Rules for Radicals".

This is Obama's blueprint. It is what he taught others on the left to use. Alinsky is a campaign of deceit and lies and deception. It is based on the concept of hiding everything that you are doing behind double talk and pretensions that your enemy will not recognize until it is too late, always pretending to work "democratically". In truth the idea is to use democracy to subvert democratic goals.

A perfect example of his techniques is the pretend appointment of Dr. Mark Dybul, the openly gay man who George W. Bush had put in charge of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). This program is universally recognized as being a success. So Obama made a great show of asking Dr. Dybul to stay on until someone could be found to assure the program's success continued. However there were many Democrats who were critical of Dr. Dybul for daring to work for a Republican administration. To fire him would have looked partisan. So Obama pretended to ask him to stay on, and then fired him the instant that other news guaranteed little coverage of the act.

When a man tells you he will govern with deceit, why are so many libertarians and conservatives surpised when Obama governs with deceit? Are we stupid?
