The Real Price Of
The Stimulus
Will Be Individual Liberty

by Kevin O'Brien - February 12th, 2009 - Cleveland Plain Dealer

Two quotes from Benjamin Franklin leap to mind: "You have a republic, madam, if you can keep it"; and, "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security."

We have kept the republic poorly. And in a stampede toward a false promise of economic security, we have given up our essential liberty.

Next week, President Barack Obama will approve the biggest expansion of federal power, vis a vis the individual, that Americans have ever seen.

It is not something that is unexpected. For 40 years a great number of people have warned that continuing the experiment with education, where liberals brain washed our children with socialist dogma, would some day destroy America.

They were ignored by most. "Aw it's not that bad" was what America replied. So the brain washing continued.

The sad part is that it will never be undone. At one unique point in history a group of intellectuals came together and formed a government whose PURPOSE was defense of liberty. Nothing like it had ever been seen before. Each man could work hard and create as much wealth as he wished and his right to his own efforts were assured. The pressure from both the rich and the poor for their own purposes has always resulted in governments protecting the rich and taking the efforts of the middle class to share with the poor.

Such a government is corrupt. As corrupt as the tax cheats and thieves and liars of the Democrat Party's "new" NEW DEAL. Obama talked about 'hope' and 'change' and all we got was the same old lies and tyranny.

We had freedom and this new generation has thrown liberty away. But then you cannot blame the people who were brain washed. You have to blame the generation of parents who were too indifferent to stop the brain washing from happening.
