Cap And Trade - The Path To ‘Global Governance’

Editorial - July 15th, 2009 - San Franciscio Examiner

Look no further than Monday’s seemingly unnoticed report from the American Petroleum Institute that oil and natural gas drilling activities in the U.S. fell nearly 46 percent in the second quarter from a year ago. Drilling now stands at its lowest level since 2003. A small portion of this change is attributable to a drop in the price of oil, but the elephant in the room is Obama-Waxman-Markey, the cap-and-trade, anti-global warming energy bill that recently passed the House and is now pending in the Senate. Energy companies know that legislation is aimed directly at them and are reducing drilling operations accordingly.

Again and again Obama's actions destroy American competitiveness with no benefit at all except that competitive destruction. It is beyond belief that Obama truly embraces the idea that America taking actions with no significance to stopping global warming is worthwhile. Yet he does. Even the global warming fanatics concede it has to be a global effort to achieve the minuscule success they project. Yet Obama is happy to ignore the uselessness of his actions (as long as China and India refuse to go along) and STILL demands that America do this, just because he wants some more money to spend. He ignores the damage to our economy.

This is insane. I reject the conclusion that man-is-causing-global-warming. However even if I didn't, cap-and-tax is totally destructive to America while China and India reject it. The global warming leaders acknowledge this. Why is the American public so stupid? When did our nation lose its collective minds? Cap-and-tax must be stopped.
