Barack Obama 'Wanted To Join US Military'

by Toby Harnden - September 7th, 2008 - Telegraph (London)

Barack Obama has said he considered joining the United States military when he left school but decided not to because the Vietnam war was over and "we weren't engaged in an active military conflict at that point".

ROTFL

Obama, a pacifist who claims he opposes war, an appeaser who insists we should negotiate with tyrants with no preconditions, is rattled by a gun wielding Supermom whose son is heading overseas and decides he needs to appear more manly. So now he wants us to "know" that he was ready to endure basic training and learn to kill. See, he insists he is not some elitist arugula loving graduate of Harvard whose main claim to fame is being a community organizer fronting for socialist causes in the black community. No, he is just your average patriotic American who considered military service.

Do you believe this?

He wrote two memoirs and has never once alluded to this planned enlistment before. You can be sure some friend will come out of the woodwork and assure us Obama said it to him "at the time". This will happen so we can be "sure" that it is sincere.

Actually the best blog post about this I read was the explanation (tongue in cheek) of why he finally decided against enlisting. Since we were not engaged in an active military conflict, as Obama notes, there was no one he could surrender to! Another said he was sure that Obama did think about joining the military, just not the U.S. military!

In the same interview in which he issued this pure lie, Obama also got confused and spoke of "his Muslim faith" and had to be corrected by George Stephanopoulus that he meant his "Chrisitian" faith.

Obama is totally losing it.
