Furious EU Protests After
Russian Gas Supplies Cut Off

by Staff - January 6th, 2009 - London times

Large parts of Europe woke up today to find that Russian gas supplies had been cut off on the coldest day of the year as a dispute between Moscow and Ukraine over payment rates took a dramatic turn for the worse.

Six countries reported a complete shut-off and Bulgaria – where midwinter temperatures are reaching minus 15C – said that it had enough gas "only for a few days". "We are in a crisis situation," the Bulgarian economy ministry said in a statement.

Also cut off were Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Turkey and Croatia ...

If this was America we would be agonizing over the fact that we could not cut off supplies to one country because of the potential to affect some other country. Our courts would demand that the supply continue and it would take years to sort things out with the American taxpayer funding the bill in the meantime.

Russia does things differently. Russia says, screw Ukraine and anyone who gets gas through their pipelines. The gas is cut off. If you get your gas through their pipeline, provide another way to get your gas. If you can't, tough.

Of course you will never see any Democrat or any liberal from Europe complain about Putin. They are scared of him. The same people who screamed about Bush being a cowboy would never dare complain about Putin.

The world is not insane. America is.
