Obama's Latest Monstrosity

by John Berlau - July 21st, 2010 - The American Spectator

The 2,315 page Dodd-Frank financial regulation bill that President Obama will sign today should not be called "financial reform." Instead the bill, which passed the Senate 60-39 last week when Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown joined Maine Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins to grant cloture, should be called what for what it is: pages and pages of massively costly, counterproductive and possibly unconstitutional mandates on nearly every type of business except for those government-sponsored enterprises at the root of the crisis.

Five contemptible Republicans conspired with the Democrats to pass this abusive strangling of the American economy. They include Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.), Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine).

Though on the cloture bill only 3 voted to allow the bill to move forward, all five proved by their ignorant comments on this bill both a total lack of understanding of free enterprise and contempt for the individual freedoms guaranteed in our Constitution.

God help us if this is generally indicative of the Republican party they represent. It often seems it is still as deviously progressive and pro big government as the Bush regime which was driven from office with such low approval ratings. Those ratings were a reflection of how much Bush was hated both by conservatives on the right and extreme liberals on the left. Bush still remains less public approval than Obama, which should communicate something to the Bush lovers. Clearly this gang of 5 identified above are as ignorant of the individual freedom our nation stands for as Bush was. They may think they are being moderate. In truth they are being traitors to freedom.
