Clinton Wants 'More Balance'
On Airwaves
by Michael Calderone - February 12th, 2009 - Politico
"Well, you either ought to have the Fairness Doctrine or we ought to have more balance on the other side," Clinton said, "because essentially there's always been a lot of big money to support the right wing talk shows and let[s] face it, you know, Rush Limbaugh is fairly entertaining even when he is saying things that I think are ridiculous ... "
If you thought that 8 years of smearing and demonizing George W. Bush had satisfied the Alinsky followers on the left, then you do not understand the war that America is currently engaged in. It is a civil war between the left and the right, but only the left is fighting. The right keeps whining "can't we all just get along?"
The new target of left wing ridicule and smears is Rush Limbaugh, publicly signaled as such by the Magic Marxist Messiah himself. My first reaction to this was how un-Presidential and childish. But then I remembered how successfully they took down George W. Bush, constantly smearing him with lies.
Has anyone forgotten the repeated accusation Bush claimed that Saddam was responsible for 9/11? He never did but that did not stop his attackers. Before it was over, the right had simply stopped responding to the attacks as they grew weary of what they saw as a lie. The left, Alinsky advocates all, never stopped repeating the lie ... along with many others ... until it is true that today the vast majority of Americans believe that George W. Bush actually said this. Bush is hated by a large majority of our citizens. They even accomplished another goal which is "freezing" Bush and his supporters into a defensiveness that harmed Bush as much as the lies.
What about the unceasingly vitriolic attacks on Sarah Palin? The left recognized early her threat and attacked with the vengeance only Alinsky schooled radicals could muster for such a decent person.
These tactics are intentional left wing tactics which they know will win over time.
This time Rush Limbaugh is the target. Already his supporters are starting to say that Rush can never be brought down, that he can defend himself. Having shown us how the Alinsky playbook works once, why are Republicans, conservative and libertarian, allowing it to happen again. Are we stupid? "I won't dignify that attack with a response" works under most circumstances. It does not work under a dedicated and determined smear campaign over years by ruthless opponents that care nothing for truth.
If we do not defend Rush Limbaugh ... pointing out the smear tactic and its basis in lies and deceit ... a few years down the road when conservative talk radio is gone and socialists dominate the airwaves as well as newspapers and TV, our political destruction will be deserved. It will be due to our own stupidity. How many times will we allow these Alinsky tactics to succeed before we wake up and fight back?
Update: 9:55 AM
The argument I made above is also made very effectively by Kyle-Anne Shiver in her article Alinsky-ites at the Gates of Talk Radio. I highly recommend it.
