Gore Swears Off Ethanol Kool-Aid

... Al Gore, a devout environmentalist if ever there was one... just came out against the U.S. program of subsidizing ethanol. As he told a green-energy conference last week in Athens, "It is not a good policy to have these massive subsidies for first-generation ethanol. First-generation ethanol, I think, was a mistake. The energy conversion ratios are at best very small."

You will not persuade farmers of this. They are adamant that this useless and stupid program must continue. In reality, it has become a major factor in the militant support for Democrats by the farm community. They have proved, by their support for this program that is useless in aiding in any way the claims of "global warming" proponents, that self interest and greed means more to the farmers than America does. This ignorant law has driven food prices up dramatically, again something that farmers are delighted to see. If a few million people starve to death their response is a cavalier "screw them."
