Town Halls Gone Wild

by Alex Isenstadt - July 31st, 2009 - Politico

Screaming constituents, protesters dragged out by the cops, congressmen fearful for their safety — welcome to the new town-hall-style meeting, the once-staid forum that is rapidly turning into a house of horrors for members of Congress.

On the eve of the August recess, members are reporting meetings that have gone terribly awry, marked by angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior. In at least one case, a congressman has stopped holding town hall events because the situation has spiraled so far out of control.

“I had felt they would be pointless,” Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) told POLITICO, referring to his recent decision to suspend the events in his Long Island district. “There is no point in meeting with my constituents and [to] listen to them and have them listen to you if what is basically an unruly mob prevents you from having an intelligent conversation.”

In Bishop’s case, his decision came on the heels of a June 22 event he held in Setauket, N.Y., in which protesters dominated the meeting by shouting criticisms at the congressman for his positions on energy policy, health care and the bailout of the auto industry.

It is just such hostile criticism that has always been the norm for Republicans who have had to face rabid left wing fanatics for years. Now Democrats are getting some of their own medicine because they have swerved left into communist-marxist-socialist country. That has enraged a great number of libertarians-conservatives-moderates who have never been that excited before. The Democrats did not expect anything but the usual mild Republican response. The Democrat problem is not the Republican base. The problem is a great number of people who have never cared about politics before, who just wanted to be left alone, who are becoming enraged at the idea that their nation will be turned into a Communist tyranny.

When the President starts firing business executives and lying about it, destroying the bankruptcy courts and lying about it, spending trillions of dollars in a wasteful stimulus program and lying about it, supporting failed banks that gave democrats campaign contributions and lying about it... proclaiming the planet is suffering global warming and denying the fraudulent science behind the claims... and now lying about his socialist health care take over... PEOPLE ARE MAD.

The response by the Democrats is... to stop listening to anyone but their left wing supporters. Representative Bishop is not the only Democrat who is hiding from the people who are upset. I guess that just proves that the claims of bi-partisanship were always a key part of the plan to keep lying to the American people.

Government To Suspend
'Cash For Clunkers'

by Staff - July 30th, 2009 - Associated Press

The government plans to suspend its popular "cash for clunkers" program amid concerns it could quickly use up the $1 billion in rebates for new car purchases, congressional officials said Thursday.

[Snip]

A survey of 2,000 dealers by the National Automobile Dealers Association found about 25,000 deals had not yet been approved by NHTSA, or nearly 13 trades per store. It raised concerns that with about 23,000 dealers taking part in the program, auto dealers may already have surpassed the 250,000 vehicle sales funded by the $1 billion program.

Bureaucrats! A program that is supposed to "approve" 250,000 sales is incapable of handling 25,000 sales, a fraction of the sales expected. They are swamped after 10% of the sales are submitted. So the program is suspended while government bureaucrats figure out how to overcome their incompetent planning for the program. This is not just an example of how stupid and incompetent President Barack Obama is. This is a perfect example of just how stupid and incompetent most government officials are. They call it the rule of unintended consequences. Doesn't this frighten anyone who contemplates letting Obama set up a bureaucracy to approve your health care decisions?

Update - August 1st, 2009 - A group of dealers are setting up their own "Cash for Clunkers" program not based on the government. The major differences are the engines in the trade-ins do not have to be destroyed and the "clunker" can be traded in for a used car. The most important issue is that it provides as much if not greater environmental advantage as the dim-witted government program.

Revenge of the ‘Shoe Bomber’

by Debra Burlingame - July 29th, 2009 - Wall Street Journal
Mr. Obama has repeatedly suggested that the security challenge of bringing more than 100 trained and dangerous terrorists onto U.S. soil can be solved by simply installing them in an impenetrable fortress. This view is either disingenuous or naïve. The militant Islamists at Guantanamo too dangerous to release believe that their resistance behind the wire is a continuation of holy war. There is every reason to believe they will continue their jihad once they have been transported to U.S. soil where certain federal judges have signaled a willingness to confer upon them even more rights.

The position of civil rights activists with regard to these prisoners is plain. “If they cannot be convicted,” says ACLU lawyer Jameel Jaffer, “then you release them.”

These people are enemies of America. The delusion that they have civil rights and that we have to release them into our society to continue their fanatical war against us if we cannot "convict" them under rules intended to protect citizens is a suicide pact. Though judges used to understand this, we now have so many America hating left wing fanatics who have become lawyers and judges that a suicide pact is exactly what they intend to make our Constitution.

Civil rights activists are, in their own way, as dedicated to the destruction of America as the Islamo-fascists. With these groups teaming up now that President Barack Obama is moving these detainees on to American soil, the combination will not be in the interest of our nation nor will it secure peace for our citizens.

Obama Demands
$60 Billion In Savings
From Military Fighting Two Wars

by Michael Goldfarb - July 28, 2009 - The Weekly Standard

This is the same Barack Obama who asked the entire federal government to come up with $100 million in savings over the next year and couldn't deliver on deadline. Yet the military, actively engaged in two hot wars and fighting a global war on terror, or counterinsurgency, or contingency operation, or whatever the euphemism of the day is, will be asked to cut six hundred times as much in order to "pay for new priorities to be set by the Defense secretary, a top Pentagon official said Tuesday"...

Meanwhile, Obama has announced plans to significantly gut our National Guard forces on the premise that these institutions are "too conservative" and cannot be counted on to police the American people.

A Post-Racial President?

by Thomas Sowell - July 28th, 2009 - Townhall.com

Those who were shocked at President Obama's cheap shot at the Cambridge police for being "stupid" in arresting Henry Louis Gates must have been among those who let their wishes prevail over the obvious implications of Obama's 20 years of association with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Anyone who can believe that Obama did not understand what the racist rants of Jeremiah Wright meant can believe anything.

With race-- as with campaign finance, transparency and the rest-- Barack Obama knows what the public wants to hear and that is what he has said. But his policies as president have been the opposite of his rhetoric, with race as with other issues.

That is the real problem with Obama. He is the most divisive President in our history, yet his supporters are angry because they see him as a uniter and CANNOT see his flaws. They are either black or overwhelmed with white guilt, so they cannot understand why so many Americans are outraged at Obama's constant groveling apologies to other nations. Obama always makes it clear, he is not groveling for himself, but for the evil and flawed America. The words I think of when I think of Obama are narcissist, charlatan and traitor. Certainly not the description words anyone would choose for a President.

North Carolina Terror Cell
Planned Attacks In Israel

by Staff - July 28th, 2009 - Associated Press

A father, his two sons and four other men living in North Carolina are accused of military-style training at home and plotting "violent jihad" abroad, including against targets in Israel, federal authorities said Monday.

Officials said the men were led by Daniel Patrick Boyd, 39, who resided in a small lakeside home in a rural area south of Raleigh...

The Islamo-fascist war against our nation is not over and will not slow down just because the Magic Marxist Messiah has declared an end to our fighting in Iraq.

The Mask Slips

by Melanie Phillips - July 27th, 2009 - The Spectator (London)

Obama’s major speech on race in March 2008 in which he finally ‘renounced’ his former pastor, the anti-white bigot Rev Jeremiah Wright, which was hailed as the greatest piece of oratory since the Gettysburg address and which supposedly transcended racial animosities to create the colour-blind Brotherhood of Man, was anything but. In this speech Obama actually said Wright should not be renounced, and that Wright’s racism was actually all the fault of white people. The fact that so many people failed to hear or read what Obama actually said and instead heard or read only what they wanted to hear was truly frightening.

Now, thanks to the histrionics of Henry Louis Gates, we can see how Obama’s dysfunctional attitude to race plays out in real time. Gates’s arrest was an honest and understandable mistake by the Cambridge police who were investigating what appeared to be a break-in. It clearly had nothing to do with Gates being black – not least because other officers backing up the arresting officer were non-white. Gates’s protests were preposterous, and vividly demonstrated the pathological resentment and injustice – not to mention the strutting arrogance and narcissism -- of anti-racist ‘victim culture’.

Barack Obama is a racist. He blames America, especially white America, for all the problems of the world. It is the reason he keeps going around the world grovelling on behalf of America and apologizing for our nation. What is wrong with a country that is so wrapped up in guilt that it would elect a ruler who hates the nation he is to rule? What is wrong with a party, the Democrat Party, that so adores a man who only tolerates you if you bow down to him?

America No Longer Exists

A Constitution in FULL Crisis

by JB Williams - July 23, 2009

Decades of outright destruction of the Constitution have left the nation on the brink of economic, political and social collapse. The 2006 and 2008 election cycles placed the Constitution in full crisis and the people are growing increasingly desperate for a peaceful means to restore their Constitutional Republic.

An administration which does not meet constitutional standards is expected to protect and defend a contract which it does not even recognize, much less respect. The contract either stands, or it doesn’t. Based on the 2008 election, and every policy put in place since, the contract does not stand at present. If the Constitution no longer stands, then the federal government which it established, no longer stands in authority.

Tyranny reigns…

Democrats are in denial that the Obama regime is racist, Marxist and atheistic. So they will probably ignore the articles covered here, explaining why Obama has shredded the Constitution.

Does the Constitution delegate the power to “confiscate and redistribute private wealth” to the federal government?

Does it delegate power to force “Cap and Trade” or so-called “Universal Health Care” upon the people and the states?

Does it delegate the power over private industry, such as banking, auto manufacturing, energy and the likes? – Or the power to disarm American citizens under any set of circumstances, real or imaginary?

No such powers were delegated to the federal government under the US Constitution. Unlike many ill-informed US citizens, Obama & Co. knows it. But they don’t care…

Since no clause exists in the Constitution which specifically assigns any of these powers to the Fed, Amendment Ten applies… “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

The next article by Williams on this same topic explains the process we need to follow to fix the Constitutional Crisis that the Obama regime has created.

A Constitution in Full Crisis II

by JB Williams - July 26th, 2009

Only re-installing a constitutional federal government which serves at the pleasure of the people and their states can save the Representative Republic from certain ruin.

The federal government will NOT reform itself. Though some Republicans and Blue Dog Democrats who are still respectful of the US Constitution might like to, they have no power to force reform in Washington DC today.

The people are not able to fully organize fast enough to stop the current march to Marxism on their own. The 50 states, via the state legislatures, will have to force the federal government back into compliance with the Constitution.

The Constitution MUST be reinstated and a constitutional federal government must replace the unconstitutional government currently rushing to destroy the greatest nation on earth.

Only the 50 states have the power to reign in the Fed peacefully....

The article then goes on to detail five goals of the process needed to restore the American Constitution.

I agree with the premise Mr. Williams has presented. Our nation has ceased to exist because of the destruction of our Constitution. No branch of the federal government retains lawful authority, especially our courts. Neither the activist judges or the subservient power hungry conservative judges will surrender the tyrannical power that has been placed in their hands. They ignore the Constitution more egregiously than Obama and the Democrat legislature. Even the so-called conservative judges are deferential to the legislative and executive abuses that have led us to the current crisis.

With no legally authorized or lawful power for the current government the people must re-establish adherence to their Constitution. We are no longer America. That free nation has already ceased to exist. Failure to act is acceptance that the current Marxist tyranny will be the future of our nation.

Take Two Aspirin

And Call Me When Your Cancer Is Stage 4

by Ann Coulter - July 22nd, 2009 - AnnCoulter.com

All the problems with the American health care system come from government intervention, so naturally the Democrats' idea for fixing it is more government intervention. This is like trying to sober up by having another drink.

The reason seeing a doctor is already more like going to the DMV, and less like going to the Apple "Genius Bar," is that the government decided health care was too important to be left to the free market. Yes -- the same free market that has produced such a cornucopia of inexpensive goods and services that, today, even poor people have cell phones and flat-screen TVs.

As a result, it's easier to get your computer fixed than your health. Thanks, government!

There are many who dislike Ann Coulter's rapier wit. I love it. What I have found interesting about Ann's columns is that she always comes up with some explanation of the facts that I never thought of, usually a brilliant analogy or metaphor. She has done it again with health care.

As much as it frustrated me that government is never willing to separate regular health care from exceptional health care, the metaphor of car insurance never came to mind. And yet it is true. The way we treat health care is like demanding that our car insurance cover accidents... and also regular costs like gas, oil and filters... plus reliability problems that warranty would cover like engine replacement, new bateries and trasmission rebuilds. In other words, everything that could happen to your car. Great analogy. Does that type car insurance make sense to you? Would having car insurance pay for your gas really make sense? Has holding a third party liable for warranty ever worked out well? If you think these are reasonable then Obamacare probably makes sense to you as well.

The Obama Dream
Turns Into Nightmare

by Nile Gardiner - July 24th, 2009 - London telegraph

Today’s Rasmussen Presidential Tracking survey will have hit the poll-obsessed Obama White House like a bullet train at full speed. For the first time, Barack Obama’s approval rating has fallen below 50 per cent among likely voters. 51 per cent of Americans now disapprove of the president, with 38 per cent strongly disapproving.

[Snip]

To add to Obama’s woes, unemployment in America now stands at a staggering 9.5 percent and rising (the same level as the Euro area), compared to 7.2 per cent in the UK and 5.2 per cent in Japan, with the U.S. economy continuing to shed hundreds of thousands of jobs every month.

How could this happen? Unemployment was starting to slow until Obama frightened small business with a continuation of George W. Bush's ignorant Wall Street bailout, and then he doubled down on the bailout. Not content, Obama escalated the erroneous auto bailout, got congress to pass a $1.5 trillion dollar stimulus (known as the $787 billion stimulus for some bizarre reason known only to our MSM), significantly expanded government with a new budget for this year that had inherent in it a quadrupling of our annual deficit (and Obama claimed that just because he and the Democrat congress passed it - it wasn't his fault - it was really all George W. Bush's fault since Obama had no choice blah blah blah... ).

Unemployment resumed its steady deterioration as it always does when government sucks all the money out of the economy.

If the U.K. only has 7.2 per cent unemployment, why does America have 9.5%? For the years when Bush was President, we always stayed below the U.K. level of unemployment. I am astounded by the following quote from the article, "If he is not careful, Barack Obama may end up as one of the least popular presidents in American history."

Sounds about right to me.

Obama Knows 'Stupidly'
When He Doesn't See It

by Mark Steyn - July 24th, 2009 - Orange County Register

Encounter between cops and black professor suggests grievance-mongering will always be with us.

By common consent, the most memorable moment of Barack Obama's otherwise listless press conference on "health care" were his robust remarks on the "racist" incident involving professor Henry Louis Gates and the Cambridge police. The latter "acted stupidly," pronounced the chief of state. The president of the United States may be reluctant to condemn Ayatollah Khamenei or Hugo Chávez or that guy in Honduras without examining all the nuances and footnotes, but sometimes there are outrages so heinous that even the famously nuanced must step up to the plate and speak truth to power. And thank God the leader of the free world had the guts to stand up and speak truth to municipal police Sgt. James Crowley.

We keep hearing about how "revered" is Dr. Gates, this black teacher of racist grievance. Yet Mark Steyn points out one of his noted previous accomplishments was to publicly confuse words of the 18th century poet Robert Burns - attributing them to the 16th century writer Shakespeare - while testifying in a court of law. It is not cool when you are supposed to be an "authority" to botch your testimony that bad. Do you supposed this "revered" authority was referring to that when he kept insisting to Sgt. Crowley, "You don't know who you're messin' with"?

It appears this racist incompetent scholar knows as much about racism as he knows about the words of the famous bard. As does our noted President, whose fame started with two autobiographies that are now being attributed to a ghost writer.

O's Foreign Failures

by Peter Brookes - July 23rd, 2009 - New York Post

The president wrongly thought he could turn his perceived popularity abroad into results. Instead, like many liberals in the past, he's come face-to-face with the reality of the dog-eat-dog world of international politics, where some of the pooches are self-interested pit bulls. If current trends continue, we're going to end up on the wrong end of someone's canine teeth.

Indeed, as many have correctly said over the years, getting domestic policy wrong can cost people their jobs -- and it has. But getting foreign policy wrong can cost people their lives -- and it will.

The cancellation of the F-22, the reductions in dual use submarines and bombers, the reductions in National Guard funding while increasing the tax payer funding of anti-war groups, will seriously weaken the precept ion by foreign tyrants that anyone need fear us. Teddy Roosevelt had it right when he said, "Speak softly but carry a big stick." Obama has not yet figured out that speaking softly does not include constantly apologizing for and blaming America. Nor has he figured out that gutting our national defense forces is not carrying a big stick.

In fact, as this article portrays him, he has not figured out much about foreign affairs and diplomacy at all.

3 Reasons Why A
Successful Third Party
Wouldn't Solve Anything

by John Hawkins - July 22nd, 2009 - Townhall.com

Sure, the Libertarian Party, Constitution Party, Green Party, etc. are much purer than the Republican and Democratic parties -- but there's a reason for that: they're not in power. They don't have a leech class that just wants to keep their cushy jobs. They don't get to hand out earmarks that indirectly put hundreds of thousands of dollars into the pockets of their families, friends, and political allies. They don't have to take electoral considerations into their policy positions because they don't ever get elected to anything. It's easy to be pure when you're on the outside looking in. When you have skin in the game and doing the right, but unpopular thing may cost you the job of a lifetime -- judging by what goes on in Congress, most people's moral courage goes out the window. That's not because of what party they're in; it's because of human nature. A third party isn't going to change that any more than communism suddenly makes everyone care as much about their neighbor down the street as they do their own family. That's why a viable third party, even if it were to exist, wouldn't solve anything.

I have seen an element in the Republican Party coalition destroy great candidates because they don't have the right position on an issue that the elected office they are running for CAN NOT CHANGE OR EVEN AFFECT. There is NOTHING more ignorant than that. Political parties arose rapidly because it is impossible to create a governing coalition on each issue, one by one. Those who oppose political parties even as "good old George Washington" opposed them are living in a dream world. We are at a crisis in America that requires the right must unite to save our nation. I don't see that happening. Most conservatives care more about their own opinions (and destroying people who share most of their views but aren't "perfect" conservatives on the "right" issues) than they care about America.

Is that called egotism? Or is it narcissism? I forget.

One Giant Leap To Nowhere

by Tom Wolfe - July 18th, 2009 - New York Times

The American space program, the greatest, grandest, most Promethean — O.K. if I add “godlike”? — quest in the history of the world, died in infancy at 10:56 p.m. New York time on July 20, 1969, the moment the foot of Apollo 11’s Commander Armstrong touched the surface of the Moon.

This article, from the socialist rag known as the New York Times, has actually summed up much of the pain I feel about our nation. We have lost our souls and the ability to dream. The majority no longer believe in either the exceptionalism of our nation or the exceptionalism of man. For what else does American exceptionalism represent except a metaphor of greatness for this sentient animal knows as mankind.

Today America is dying as the growing majority of whiny me-me-me greedy grabbers demand the right to take from anyone else what they want to take. "I deserve a heart transplant just for existing." It doesn't matter that I have never worked a day in my life. Health care is a "fundamental" right and thus someone else must pay for my heart transplant. How about the "rich". Make them pay.

Sounds good until you realize that there are not enough rich. And there is this funny thing. Since most rich have worked really hard for what they have, they don't fancy having the lazy just take it from them. Our youth have no plans to work hard for anything. They plan to simply take what they want by voting for it.

That brings us back to the space program. Where today is the genius dreamer who can point out the need to worry about mankind's future. From the article:

The fact was, NASA had only one philosopher, Wernher von Braun. Toward the end of his life, von Braun knew he was dying of cancer and became very contemplative. I happened to hear him speak at a dinner in his honor in San Francisco. He raised the question of what the space program was really all about.

It’s been a long time, but I remember him saying something like this: Here on Earth we live on a planet that is in orbit around the Sun. The Sun itself is a star that is on fire and will someday burn up, leaving our solar system uninhabitable. Therefore we must build a bridge to the stars, because as far as we know, we are the only sentient creatures in the entire universe. When do we start building that bridge to the stars? We begin as soon as we are able, and this is that time. We must not fail in this obligation we have to keep alive the only meaningful life we know of.

That would be true if our youth and culture cared about anything but today. The future, grand ideas, surviving the death of our planet? These are not things we worry about any more. Me-me-me. That has become the only focus of our culture. Selfish idiots who can not contribute to anything because they know nothing. These now control our world. And even those who believe in God are fantasizing about the end times of man in the Apocalypse, not our future. It is all about them going to heaven (and their neighbor not going because he dares to disagree with the "infallible" bible). Our culture doesn't dream because we no longer have the intellectual curiosity to dream.

If the New York Times can see that, how hard can it be?

Obama Welcomes Al Qaeda

by Sher Zieve - July 18, 2009 - Canada Free Press

Under any US President--I presume even Franklin D. Roosevelt--the sworn enemy of the United States of America would not be allowed (let alone welcomed with open arms) into the country. But, under Dictator Obama’s rule, that’s what is now occurring and encouraged terrorist groups are coming out into the open--with no reprisals whatsoever.

The terrorist group Hizb ut-Tahrir--an admitted Al-Qaeda affiliate--is actually holding an Islamist Hate-and-Destroy-the-USA-and-Capitalism Conference at a Hilton Hotel just outside of Chicago.

[Snip]

Hizb ut-Tahrir’s conference is titled “The Fall of Capitalism and the Rise of Islam.” Catchy, ‘eh? Hmm. FNC reports that Director of the Future of Terrorism Project at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies Walid Phares said: “Hizb ut-Tahrir is one of the oldest, largest indoctrinating organizations for the ideology known as Jihadism. It’s like a middle school that prepares them to be recruited by the high school, which is Al Qaeda. One would compare them to Hitler youth. It’s an extremely dangerous organization.”

So why is Obama welcoming this group to America?

On Shearing Sheep

Obama’s economic plans are relentlessly hostile to small business.

by Victor Davis Hanson - July 15th, 2009 - National Review

You don’t produce wool by skinning the sheep. But that seems to be the present strategy to get small businesses to begin hiring, buying, and expanding.

There is apparent surprise among Obamians that unemployment has soared the last six months. The much-anticipated stimulus sputtered, and there is a sense of bewilderment in the administration about why joblessness and economic growth are stagnant after the government injected trillions of dollars into the system.

Perhaps the Obama administration needs to remember the psychology of business. After the shock of the September meltdowns, the natural reaction of anyone whose livelihood relied directly on markets was to conserve, pull in one’s horns, and ride out the mess.

As Hanson explains, Obama thought he could threaten small business to do as he ordered. He also thought there was no difference between Wall Street and Main Street. Since Wall Street gave him such large campaign contributions, Obama and his people thought that all business was in love with him.

Obama also cannot seem to get a grip on why someone who makes $250,000 a year risking his own money is different than someone who makes $2.5 million a year touting stocks with nothing but his time invested. The only risk for the Wall Street "Master of the Universe" (as they love to call themselves) is not making as much money next year. For the small businessman the fear he faces is losing everything he has.

Obama and his people also cannot get a grip on the concept of "net" versus "gross" profit. When they tried to restrict programs for farmers that "grossed" $250,000 a year they showed they were blithely ignorant that most farmers that "grossed" $250,000 a year made far less than a normal salary after costs were considered. Often the subsidy was the difference between making it and failing. How can people get to jobs at the level Obama put them and still be that ignorant of the fact that the costs of business are real? They are not just a way to hide profits.

Lead In The Head

Editorial - July 16th, 2009 - Washington Times

On June 22, Baby Sprouts Naturals went out of business. Congress killed it. Baby Sprouts Naturals is [that should be was] a small company making what it calls "natural, non-toxic baby products" such as "organic apparel," toys and the like. None of the company's products contains lead. But an anti-lead law Congress passed in 2008, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), has snared even this leadless company in its trap.

Baby Sprouts Naturals is far from alone. Horror stories abound about small and large businesses, and, indeed, entire industries, closed or hobbled because of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. The law sets new, absurdly stringent limits on how much lead any children's product can contain. It requires strict testing and labeling of all products intended for children and makes both manufacturers and retailers responsible for proving that such testing has taken place. It allows all 50 state attorneys general to take "enforcement" actions related to these issues and to hire outside counsel to do the legal work. It all but invites class-action lawsuits against children's product suppliers.

Idiots who support legislation like this law, ushered though congress by the ultimate fascist Henry Waxman, still do not seem to understand what Frederick Hayek described so well in his book, "The Road to Serfdom".

You cannot legislate government control without huge unintended consequences. This law by Waxman is loved by big corporations. It destroys small business who were actually providing consumers with better value, wiping out the competition for big business and leaving big busines with a monopoly. You can pretend that is not tyranny, but it is.

How Deficits Work

The relationship between government borrowing money and work performed by taxpayers is simple. By borrowing money, government is promising that someone will perform work on government's behalf to pay off the borrowing in the future. Since that work will not be performed for money (since it has already been given to others) it is a promise that someone will be made to perform work for the benefit of government for free. That is slavery. What else do you call a demand to work for nothing?

In reality this is also the definition of taxes whenever they take money from one person to spend on another. Slavery.

A Tale of Two Bailouts

Editorial - July 15th, 2009 - Wall Street Journal

Goldman's traders profited in the second quarter from taking advantage of spreads left wide by the disappearance of some competitors (Lehman, Bear Stearns) and the risk aversion of others (Morgan Stanley). Meantime, Goldman's own credit spreads over Treasurys have narrowed as the market has priced in the likelihood that the government stands behind the risks it is taking in its proprietary trading books.

Goldman will surely deny that its risk-taking is subsidized by the taxpayer -- but then so did Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, right up to the bitter end. An implicit government guarantee is only free until it's not, and when the bill comes due it tends to be huge. So for the moment, Goldman Sachs -- or should we say Goldie Mac? -- enjoys the best of both worlds: outsize profits for its traders and shareholders and a taxpayer backstop should anything go wrong.

Barack Obama has created an insane financial system that is racing away from the concept of free enterprise. Wall Street had already become an enemy of capitalism with its embrace of crony capitalism before Obama appeared on the scene. The merger and acquistion mania to subsume all corporations into monopoly divisions of huge corporations was the result.

Yet we still cannot get the leadership of the Republican Party to recognize that Wall Street has become an enemy of free enterprise. The Republican leaders carry Wall Street's water whenever they ask. They supported last year's insane bailouts with Bush and McCain leading the charge. I keep on opposing this with little success in getting anyone in the Republican Party leadership to listen. To the leadership, it is all about paying off campaign contributions and they do what their contributors dictate.

Cap And Trade - The Path To ‘Global Governance’

Editorial - July 15th, 2009 - San Franciscio Examiner

Look no further than Monday’s seemingly unnoticed report from the American Petroleum Institute that oil and natural gas drilling activities in the U.S. fell nearly 46 percent in the second quarter from a year ago. Drilling now stands at its lowest level since 2003. A small portion of this change is attributable to a drop in the price of oil, but the elephant in the room is Obama-Waxman-Markey, the cap-and-trade, anti-global warming energy bill that recently passed the House and is now pending in the Senate. Energy companies know that legislation is aimed directly at them and are reducing drilling operations accordingly.

Again and again Obama's actions destroy American competitiveness with no benefit at all except that competitive destruction. It is beyond belief that Obama truly embraces the idea that America taking actions with no significance to stopping global warming is worthwhile. Yet he does. Even the global warming fanatics concede it has to be a global effort to achieve the minuscule success they project. Yet Obama is happy to ignore the uselessness of his actions (as long as China and India refuse to go along) and STILL demands that America do this, just because he wants some more money to spend. He ignores the damage to our economy.

This is insane. I reject the conclusion that man-is-causing-global-warming. However even if I didn't, cap-and-tax is totally destructive to America while China and India reject it. The global warming leaders acknowledge this. Why is the American public so stupid? When did our nation lose its collective minds? Cap-and-tax must be stopped.

What Happened
To The Suicide Bombers
Of Jerusalem?

by Christopher Hitchens - July 13th, 2009 - Slate.com

It is sometimes important to write about the things that are not happening and the dogs that are not barking.

To do so, of course, can provide an easy hostage to fortune, which is why a lot of columnists prefer not to risk it. For all I know, some leering fanatic is preparing to make me look silly even as I write. But I ask anyway: Whatever happened to the suicide bombers of Jerusalem?

This is classic Hitchens. Articulate and well written and overwhelming in its argument. I don't always agree with Hitch, but I always love his writings. Israel has always been the target of hate filled old men. Jimmy Carter is one. Anti-Semitic and vitriolic in his hate, few can tolerate his constant litany of hate for Jews and Israel. Obama is starting to remind of one also. I don't think he has the personal motivation of public humiliation that Carter has, but if he keeps attacking Israel and backs them in to a corner, I wonder if he will not be exposed as well.

The Economy Is Even Worse
Than You Think

by Mortimer Zuckerman - July 14th, 2009 - Wall Street Journal

The recent unemployment numbers have undermined confidence that we might be nearing the bottom of the recession. What we can see on the surface is disconcerting enough, but the inside numbers are just as bad.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics preliminary estimate for job losses for June is 467,000, which means 7.2 million people have lost their jobs since the start of the recession. The cumulative job losses over the last six months have been greater than for any other half year period since World War II, including the military demobilization after the war. The job losses are also now equal to the net job gains over the previous nine years, making this the only recession since the Great Depression to wipe out all job growth from the previous expansion.

Here are 10 reasons we are in even more trouble than the 9.5% unemployment rate indicates:

This is an important article by an objective writer and I highly recommend you read his 10 reasons. The itemization of our problems is depressing... and I was already depressed enough. It is not just that Obama has headed our nation into a huge depression. The real crisis is that nothing is being done at a time when the needed fixes for the depression take years to have an effect. Instead moderate Democrats are scrambling to create votes on some issues like cap-and-tax and health-care that will save them from being thrown out of office in 2010, when the only chance for our nation's salvation is for a wholesale repudiation of the socialist gibberish which they have already embraced in earlier votes.

In addition, we have a huge number in the Republican Party who defend George W. Bush like he is Jesus Christ. When he is wrong, his mistakes are blamed on our Party, even though the majority of the Party opposes his actions. The first Democrat Congress led stimulus in early 2008, became a Republican stimulus when George embraced it. The first minor bank bailout, when Bear Sterns was protected from bankruptcy by forcing the merger with J.P. Morgan, should never have happened. Since it was on Bush's watch it is a Republican failure. Lehman Brothers stunned the markets proving you can't accuse George of being consistent. The even bigger bailout last fall was another catastrophe blamed on Republicans when it should have been blamed on Democrats. But old George W. Bush rushed in and took responsibility, dumping it in Republican laps. Thank you you inarticulate retard.

With the fraudulent census that Obama is rigging - by 2012 Republican voters will not matter. Our nation will be irrevocably fascist. The only question is whether this will be for a decade or a generation or infinity.

Obama Rewrites The Cold War

by Liz Cheney - July 13th, 2009 - Wall Street Journal

Mr. Obama has become fond of saying, as he did in Russia again last week, that American nuclear disarmament will encourage the North Koreans and the Iranians to give up their nuclear ambitions. Does he really believe that the North Koreans and the Iranians are simply waiting for America to cut funds for missile defense and reduce our strategic nuclear stockpile before they halt their weapons programs?

The White House ought to take a lesson from President Harry Truman. In April, 1950, Truman signed National Security Council report 68 (NSC-68). One of the foundational documents of America's Cold War strategy, NSC-68 explains the danger of disarming America in the hope of appeasing our enemies. "No people in history," it reads, "have preserved their freedom who thought that by not being strong enough to protect themselves they might prove inoffensive to their enemies."

I have a lot of friends who call themselves indepenent. I have a few who call themsleves Democrats. Both groups are getting smaller every day. That is because they continue to defend Obama. They like him. They consider my disgust with him and distrust of him to be irrational. They will not even read this article. As each one of these friends makes the basis of our friendship dependent on not attacking Obama, I find myself being isolated into friendships with fewer people. That to me is the real evil of Obama. He is the most divisive and hate filled man who has ever been elected President.

Obama Grovels To Russia

by Pamela Geller - July 12th, 2009 - American Thinker

When Obama took a pass on missile defense and agreed with Russia's Medvedev to reduce our nuclear arsenal by one-third, he accomplished worse than nothing. He sold out our Eastern European allies, dumping a desperately needed missile defense plan for Poland. As he did so, he revised history, claiming we did not win the cold war. Obama said, "We don't have to diminish other people in order to recognize our role in that history." Yes, he said that. And it gets worse.

When queried in his press conference with Medvedev by Ben Feller of the Associated Press as to whether he trusted his Russian counterpart and whether he believed he's truly in charge, Obama said: "I trust President Medvedev." On the matter of whether Prime Minister and former President Vladimir Putin is really calling the shots, Obama was even more simpering: "My understanding is that President Medvedev is the president. Prime Minister Putin is the prime minister. And they allocate power in accordance with Russia's form of government, in the same way that we allocate power in the United States."

[Snip]

Obama appears weak. He is groveling to Russia. It is a sad performance from a President of the United States, who inside of a month aligned with Chavez-backed Zelaya in Honduras, turned a blind eye to the brutal crackdown of a historic revolution for freedom in Iran, called for ethnic cleansing for Jews in parts of Israel, and distributed 300 million of a promised 900 million dollars to the jihad in Gaza.

The incredible record of Obama backing Marxists everywhere in the world is unbroken. Chavez, Castro, Ortega, Putin, Ahmadinejad. Find a Marxist leader that Obama has not apologized to and you will find a Marxist leader of a really really tiny country. Anybody important Obama has rushed to humble America before and apologize. He has also rushed to finance the destruction of Israel. Are you honorable moderate Democrats ready yet to accept you have aligned yourselves with a Marxist hater of America? Has there ever been a major leader of America so ashamed of our country?

Gun Sales Soar Amid
Fear of Barack Obama

by Toby Harnden - July 11th, 2009 - London Telegraph

"I've sold probably four times as much in the last six months as I have in 20 years combined," said Cliff Hunter, owner of Tommy Bronson Sporting Goods in Memphis. "Hand guns and the tactical weapons, they're absolutely off the charts."

If you are looking for accuracy, this article may not get the details right any more than their title is correct in saying that it is fear of gun control that is causing the sales. Any writer who thinks that an AR-15 is a variation of an AK-47 is not paying much attention, and not too good with detail to boot.

One thing that is true is that guns sales have "soared" and that many Americans are scared to death of the fascist program of Barack Obama. Whether you call him the Magic Marxist Messiah, Dear Reader, B.O., Apologizer-In-Chief, TOTUS, Zero, Obama bin Lyin', Zippy or "The One", Obama is rapidly becoming known as the most divisive and hated President in history. His campaign to turn America into the world's newest communist country is not sitting well with a huge number of our citizens.

Certain Fascist Affinities

No jackboots, just nanny state spoon-feeding

by Jeffrey Kuhner - July 11th, 2009 - Washington Times

Both Hitler and Mussolini were national socialists. They were militant pagans hostile to Christianity, religious orthodoxy and tradition. They believed in the cult of personality, mass propaganda and the pseudo-spiritual transformational nature of politics: charismatic leadership as a means of fulfilling people's deepest aspirations. They glorified the state, as well as the subordination of the individual and the family to the collective. They created a corporatist economy that combined big business, big labor and big government. They emphasized the nationalization of key industries, redistribution of wealth, massive public works projects and trade protectionism. They established a so-called "social safety net" through national health care, unemployment insurance and government pensions. They erected a cradle-to-grave welfare state.

Fascist social policy was so popular that President Franklin Roosevelt incorporated much of it in the New Deal.

Embarrassed by the horrors of World War II and Auschwitz, the West's liberal elite disowned Hitler and then falsely portrayed him as a reactionary right-winger.

And that is the real problem. Being masters of propaganda, the liberal-progressive-socialists have scammed not just their supporters but even the supporters of free enterprise into believing that Hitler was right wing. I cannot believe how many who believe in free enterprise are defensive about the accusation of fascist.

My response is different. I ridicule anyone on the left who calls conservatives or libertarians "fascist" since I recognize it is the Democrat Party which is fostering fascism in America. FDR supported it. LBJ did to. Carter still thinks his fascism should have worked and can't understand why it failed. Obama is doing the same thing again on a massive scale. Unfortunately he is also doing it more quickly that any of the others were able to do it. Each of these previous Democrat supporters of fascism destroyed the American economy for a while. Obama is repeating this destruction.

The only questions are how fast will it happen and how bad will it get?

Obama Is Ashamed Of America...
... Again

Barack Obama on the defensive at G-8

by
Josh Gerstein - July 10th, 2009 - Politico

Obama tried to spur the climate-change talks by making a clean break with what he suggested was the United States’ record of dragging its feet on efforts to tackle global warming.

“I know that in the past, the United States has sometimes fallen short of meeting our responsibilities. So, let me be clear: Those days are over,” he said, speaking to reporters just after the Major Economies Forum meeting wrapped up. “One of my highest priorities as president is to drive a clean energy transformation of our economy, and over the past six months, the United States has taken steps towards this goal.”

Barack Obama has now acknowledged his embarrassment at the shameful conduct of America in every foreign nation he has visited since he was elected. Prior to the election he only apologized for America a couple of times. But since the election he has been a non stop apology machine. Now he is apologizing because America has not been stupid enough to buy the man-caused-global-warming lies. Of course he is desperate to get this made the rule of law around the world before the fact it is a liberal scam is well known.

Well for some of us we can at least respond, it is mutual. Obama being our President makes us ashamed too.

Sotomayor Backers Urge Reporters
To Probe New Haven Firefighter

by Michael Doyle & David Lightman - July 10th, 2009 - McClatchy Newspapers

Supporters of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor are quietly targeting the Connecticut firefighter who's at the center of Sotomayor's most controversial ruling.

[Snip]

"To go after so sympathetic a plaintiff as Frank Ricci . . . is a new low in the politics of personal destruction," said Roger Pilon, the director of the libertarian Cato Institute's Center for Constitutional Studies.

Think that matters to the hate-mongers of the Democrat Party? If they will target and slime Trig Palin, a defenseless Downs Syndrome child, why would they hesitate for a second at taking on any regular American citizen. The weaker they are, the better the Democrat Party likes it.

It is exactly the reason that Sotomayor ruled against Ricci in the first place. He does not represent a "poor minority", which means O.J. or any black can kill him and they will get merely a slap on the wrist. It certainly means he does not have a right to earn a job promotion based on hard work. In Sotomayor's world any black or Hispanic has superior rights to any white.

Recession Tea Leaves 'Misread'

by - July 9th, 2009 - Washington Times

The Obama administration's latest lame excuse for its failed stimulus spending plan is that it underestimated the severity of the recession.

"We misread how bad the economy was," Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

The White House has been coming up with a lot of half-baked reasons why the president's massive $800 billion plan has not made a dent in the mushrooming unemployment rate, but this was a beaut.

The Magic Marxist Messiah wants you to believe that his Keynesian stimulus failure is because he did not think things were as bad as they are. He thought it was going to be easy to stop the recession. He promised that unemployment would not go over 8% at the time he insisted the stimulus had to be passed.

So why was he claiming then the economy was a disaster equal to the great depression? Considering the stimulus last year under Bush, the Bush TARP bailout, the Obama TARP bailout, the Bush auto bailout, the Obama auto bailout, the Obama stimulus, the Obama budget that quadrupled Bush's deficits (which by the way Obama criticized and insisted were useless), what exactly does this economically challenged amateur think we should do? It is clear to anyone but an idiot that it was not in fact as bad then as he said it was. To claim now it was worse than he thought requires him to explain the numbers that would support this contention. And he can't. It wasn't his opinion on the economy that was wrong. It is his solution to fix it.

One thing is clear - he thinks he can say anything that he wants and we are too stupid to remember what he said.

The reality is that Friedman was right. Keynesian stimulus does not work. FDR tried it. It didn't work. LBJ tried it. It didn't work. Carter tried it. It didn't work. Now Obama is trying it. It isn't working. However Obama now wants us to believe that it isn't his fault. The fault is really George W. Bush because the recession that started last year is worse than Obama thought.

If you believe that, you are as stupid as Obama thinks you are.

In Search Of An
Intelligent Energy Policy

by Andrew Foy and Brenton Stransky - July 9th, 2009 - American Thinker

No responsible energy policy can go forward that is rooted in the belief that man-made carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions significantly contribute to global warming or "climate change" as it is now called. This article will address data from the historical temperature record as well as climate models that refute the theory that: CO2 causes or to a large extent amplifies climate change.

From the ice core data it is clear. During the last 10,000 years, since the last ice age, there have been several periods (all before mankind was using carbon fuels) during which temperatures were warmer than today. Over the entire 400,000 years of ice core data, there are several periods of thousands of years during which the temperatures were warmer than today.

In none of these cases was the increase caused by CO2. Even though CO2 has been much higher than current levels many times in the past, there is no correlation to increased CO2 causing temperature rises. Quite the opposite, CO2 rises after temperatures go up.

There has also been a much greater cumulative time during the ice core data period when temperatures were cooler than today. What is certain to happen in the long run is the return of another ice age. As a result mankind needs cheap energy. Any rational program to produce cheap energy is a necessity for mankind to prosper so we can be ready for the ice ages to come. Any program that opposes cheap energy is rampant idiocy.

The various theories which pretend that global warming is a serious concern are not supported by the data. What these theories really support is a political desire to have government control the lives of people based on a fraudulent premise that man is causing global warming. That is not science. That is tyranny.

At Last,
Obama and Putin Meet

by Holly Bailey - July 7th, 2009 - The Gaggle

Putin: What's That On the Floor?

Today’s meeting was the first time Obama and Putin had ever met. Upon arrival, Putin met Obama outside for a quick handshake, before they headed upstairs to an ornate living room, where they briefly spoke to reporters. The initial meeting was cordial, but in your Gaggler’s view, it seemed a little awkward. Speaking through an interpreter, Putin talked first, welcoming Obama to his compound. He spoke of days when ties between the U.S. and Russia “flourished” but acknowledged periods of “grayish moods” between the two. “With you, we link all our hopes for furtherance of relations between our two countries,” Putin told Obama. It was incredibly upbeat language for Putin, but his body language was another story. Although Obama sat looking at him intently, Putin, from your Gaggler’s viewpoint, rarely made eye contact with POTUS. The Russian PM sat slumped in his chair, eyes to the ground virtually the whole time. So much for warm relations.

Someone like Putin is not going to be impressed with someone he does not respect, and it is clear he does not respect Obama. The New York Post article, "Desperate Deal" describes just how bad Obama came off in the exchange.

Moscow knows we aren't going to start a nuclear war with Russia. Putin (forget poor "President" Dmitry Medvedev) wants to gut our conventional capabilities to stage globe-spanning military operations. He wants to cut us down to Russia's size.

Our problem is that many nuclear-delivery systems -- such as bombers or subs -- are "dual-use": A B-2 bomber can launch nukes, but it's employed more frequently to deliver conventional ordnance.

Putin sought to cripple our ability to respond to international crises. Obama, meanwhile, was out for "deliverables" -- deals that could be signed in front of the cameras. Each man got what he wanted.

However what Obama got is not in the interest of our nation. It is, to the contrary, in the interest of weakening our nation. If that is what Obama wants (and many feel it is) then Obama may be a lot happier with his deal than our troops who will be severely handicapped in protecting us from harm.

I Still Hate You, Sarah Palin

by David Kahane - July 7th, 2009 - National Review

And so the word went out, from that time and place: Eviscerate Sarah Palin like one of her field-dressed moose. Turn her life upside down. Attack her politics, her background, her educational history. Attack her family. Make fun of her husband, her children. Unleash the noted gynecologist Andrew Sullivan to prove that Palin’s fifth child was really her grandchild. Hit her with everything we have: Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, taking a beer-run break from her quixotic search for Mr. Right to drip venom on Sister Sarah; post-funny comic David Letterman, to joke about her and her daughters on national television; Katie Couric, the anchor nobody watches, to give this Alaskan interloper a taste of life in the big leagues; former New York Times hack Todd “Mr. Dee Dee Myers” Purdum, to act as an instrument of Graydon Carter’s wrath at Vanity Fair. Heck, we even burned her church down. Even after the teleological triumph of The One, the assault had to continue, each blow delivered with our Lefty Sneer (viz.: Donny Deutsch yesterday on Morning Joe), until Sarah was finished.

Even the snarky conservatives who make money being the "representative" conservative on liberal controlled TV shows chimed in, as Jonah Goldberg, Fred Barnes and Charles Krauthammer stabbed Sarah Palin in the back.

The only question comes down to, "Has America got any character left?"

This is a truly funny satire... though our enemies on the left will think it is just "honest" reporting.

Arms Control Amnesia

by Keith B. Payne - July 7th, 2009 - Wall Street Journal

President Obama should recall Winston Churchill's warning: "Be careful above all things not to let go of the atomic weapon until you are sure and more than sure that other means of preserving peace are in your hands." There is no need for the U.S. to accept Russian demands for missile-defense linkage, or deep reductions in the number of our ICBMs, SLBMs and bombers, to realize much lower numbers of Russian strategic systems. There is also no basis for expecting Russian goodwill if we do so.

The problem with that philosophy is that Barack Obama does not care if America can defend itself. All of the people who cautioned about all of the signs that Barack Obama was an enemy of our nation are turning out to be right. Why was the First Lady so determined to be out of America on the 4th of July, spending her time in Russia instead? Is she as many have long suspected, an agent of the global communist conspiracy?

Why did Obama leap so quickly to endorse the Marxist President who was trying to subvert the Honduran Constitution? Only the other Marxist leaders of the Americas were also in such a hurry to defend Zelaya.

Why has Obama declared such urgency to implement the new START program without the required Senate approval? What is the rush? Gutting America's defenses? (And why did the MSM cover up another of his constant screw ups when he called Putin President instead of Prime Minister?)

Barack Obama has started a program to destroy America's competitiveness in the world. The huge debt he is building up is gutting our industrial strength and weakening our nation. TARP, the Stimulus, the huge budget, Cap-and-Tax and the huge new healthcare bill are all designed to crush America's free enterprise system. They will. Our unemployment is surging again and the economy is headed further down. This is expected. Obama wants America on its knees.

Obama says the future does not belong to those who gather armies or plant missiles. He intends to unilaterally disarm. The weaker we are, the sooner he can surrender to Russia.

Sarah Palin:
The Best is Yet to Come

By J.R. Dunn - July 6th, 2009 - American Thinker

Simply put, in resigning her governorship and stepping away from active politics, Sarah Palin is not pulling any tricks, carrying out any maneuvers, or putting in motion any long-range plans. She is doing exactly what any normal, rational, un-driven human being would do under the same circumstances.

This is the second fairly rational assessment of Sarah Palin that has come out today. Even better than the article below, it explains what anyone who watched her resignation understood. This is a class lady who took her children out of the line of fire. It is the same contemptible scum who attacked her with lies who are now saying she can't stand the heat. But they are the slime who attacked her children without any conscience. I wonder how they would like it if we started laughing about jokes such as, "Since Frank Marshall Davis was a bisexual pedophile, doesn't the fact that Obama likes to tuck Sasha and Malia in creep you out? Or does it just make you wonder if Sasha and Malia like it?"

This article comes very close to a rational assessment of Palin's current situation. As if that would matter to any of her enemies left or right.

Palin Is Far From Gone

Editorial - July 6th, 2009 - Washington Examiner

... things will be different in the future for Palin's critics who have heretofore been able to launch the most scurrilous attacks on her without fear of consequences. As she said in her Facebook statement: "The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the 'politics of personal destruction.' How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it's about country."

Some in the Republican Party call me a RINO. What makes that a joke is that I am more conservative than most of those who hurl this insult. I don't know if any conservative can win on a national level any more. Our country has become a nation dominated by gutless whiny me-me-me socialists. Maybe Jonah Goldberg, the latest to attack Sarah palin from the right, justifies his backstabbing another conservative on that basis. Why else has he led the battle to call Palin gutless and a quitter? Or maybe his attacks are more contemptible and based on Goldberg sucking up to the liberal TV producers who help him stay famous. No matter which excuse I find him to be a man with no character.

However I admire the fact that Palin is her own woman. She stands for what she says she stands for and doesn't back down.

Go Sarah.

Storm Clouds...

... on the Fourth of July

by Roger Simon - July 4th, 2009 - PajamasMedia

I don’t think I’ve ever seen my country so divided and depressed on the Fourth of July in my lifetime and - no matter what Bob Dylan dreamed up - I’m not young, forever or otherwise. That includes the Vietnam War period when both sides at least had some conviction and excitement for the future, even if wrong. Not so now. The current situation is grim.

The traditional logic of all the professional politicians is that Sarah Palin should have continued to play by the standard rules. I agree with Sarah. Playing by the rules is insane. We are at war. The Alinsky attacks would never have ended but now she has the freedom to fight the war by different rules. Why are Republicans so stupid? Do they not see we are losing? It is time to play by different rules and that includes adopting the tactics of the opposition. It is not like they are beheading us, at least not yet.

Filing ethics charges that are trivial may seem not right, but if that is the rules of the games, why not? If being Governor allows you no room to attack back in a meaningful way, why not throw out the rules and move to a better strategic position. If Palin is not fighting for us, that is one thing. But the problem is that she is being treated as if this is all about political power for her. What nonsense.

I personally have acquired nothing but contempt for idiots like Jonah Goldberg, who thinks that there is some need for her to stand there and take these shots. He never wrote a single word attacking the attackers. He worked overtime sucking up to the liberal producers of all the TV shows he gets asked to come on. He knows where his bread is buttered. He stands for screw America, its all about me-me-me. People like Palin are patriots.

Palin, Cloward, Piven And Kafka

by Tom Suhadolnik - July 4th, 2009 - American Thinker

What happened to Sarah Palin is a political game changer on the national level. It also may be a preview of what every American may face in a few years.

The 18 ethics charges filed since she rose to prominence in Republican circles might be the first time the left has successfully used the Cloward-Piven Strategy to stop an individual politician on the national level.

For those who do not know, the strategy was developed in the late 1960s by two sociologists at Columbia. In a nutshell it seeks to "hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse".

The Alinsky attack works well with this tactic, and the Magic Marxist Messiah is a master of the Alinksky attack. Democrats think that it is okay to use these tactics because they see this as war to destroy the evil of free enterprise, what they call capitalism. Most Republicans still are deluded into thinking that this is just political disagreements, not war. As they see our nation destroyed they will change their minds. However it looks like it will be too late to stop it.

Sarah Palin Resigns

To me the most interesting comment in her press conference was the statement which did not make it into the youtube video. Palin noted the constant Democrat complaints filed against her (which even the filers themselves said were intended as political attacks and all of which have been found to be false) have left her and her husband $500,000 in debt for lawyers. For this she has to endure attacks on her children from the Main Stream Media, the Democrats, and back stabbing scumbag so-called conservatives like Jonah Goldberg.

For those who wish to support this courageous lady and mitigate her having to pay for these attacks alone, the link to the legal trust fund is here.

I wish her the best. I think she is a class lady.

Update - July 4th, 2009 - Here is the complete text of Sarah Palin's press conference.

Al Franken
— Democrat From ACORN

Editorial - July 2nd, 2009 - Investor's Business Daily

It was Ritchie who orchestrated the recount that gave Democratic challenger Franken a lead some six weeks after Coleman appeared to win by 725 votes on Election Day. Ritchie has extensive ties to the Acorn organization now under federal investigation for vote fraud and was endorsed by the community activist group in 2006.

Republicans are currently so busy fighting to rid their party of RINOs (that is anybody who doesn't agree with social conservatives 100%) that they cannot be bothered trying to assure that we have honest elections. It is a lot easier to berate fellow Republicans than to actually do anything to defend our nation from a takeover by organized Marxist groups who are dedicated to power.

In this election, the vote counting process was rigged by ACORN. The election was stolen. Gutless Republicans will never say that though. We have to be civilized. We have to pretend that the process was fair. We are at war with people who will seize power through any means and yet we will not say that or acknowledge that in any way. We go to country clubs and that kind of rough and tumble politics is beneath us. We would rather lose than fight.

Barack Obama
Is A Big Fat Liar
- Illustrated

by Guy Benson - July 1st, 2009 - National Review Online

During President Obama's "townhall" event on healthcare reform today, the pesky subject of taxing employer-based benefits again reared its head. It's a policy proposal for which Obama savaged John McCain during the campaign.

Click on the title above to see the ads that Obama ran criticizing John McCain.

This way of financing healthcare reform made McCain "UNFIT FOR OFFICE". Of course now that Obama needs some financing for his one size fits all socialized medicine solution, he has no problem embracing the concept at all. Perhaps he will apologize to John McCain for the insults he hurled at him. But I wouldn't hold your breath unless Obama can blame it on America. Obama is always ready to apologize for America, because he is so ashamed of our nation. He never apologizes for anything that he does. How else could he take opposite positions on so many issues and not be ashamed of the duplicity?

Misremembering Reagan

by Ramesh Ponnuru - July 6th, 2009 (Publication Date) - National Review

Contemporary Republican politicians might find two features of Reagan’s rhetoric instructive. The first is that when he was not appearing before movement audiences, his conservatism was rarely explicit. He did not advertise his conformity to a school of thought even when he did, in fact, conform. He did not, that is, sell his policies on the basis of their conservatism. Rather the reverse: He used attractive policies to get people to give his conservatism a look. Hayward notes that Reagan’s televised speech on behalf of Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign was “quite ideological,” but that Reagan presented the choice before Americans as “up or down” rather than “left or right.”

The second is that the American Founding loomed large in Reagan’s rhetoric. The political scientist Andrew Busch has found that during his presidency Reagan mentioned the Founders more than his four immediate predecessors combined. He mentioned the Constitution ten times in his memoirs, compared with zero for those predecessors. Those of us who believe that our political inheritance from the Founders is what conservatives ought to be trying to conserve will naturally find this fact heartening. No serious student of Reagan can believe that his constitutionalism was other than sincere. It also served him well politically. It promoted unity among his sometimes fractious supporters. It rooted him in American tradition even as his opponents called him a radical. It provided a connective thread, a coherence, a seriousness, and even a nobility to his politics that it might otherwise have lacked.

That is probably why Reagan accomplished two awesome successes that will stand the test of time. Those two tests were defeating the rampant inflation that he inherited from Jimmy Carter, and winning the Cold War, which many thought we were losing when Reagan came on the scene.

The incredible success in defeating inflation is one that Democrats always want to sweep under the rug. They ridiculed it as Reaganomics at the time. It took guts and staring down many doubters even in the Republican Party to get done what needed to be done. It is an absolute foundation component of the 2nd longest peacetime expansion in the history of our nation. The srength of our nation today is built on that accomplishment.

The Cold War victory over the Soviet Union also required Reagan to stare down and defeat even members of his own party. In Reykjavic his advisers wanted him to accept a compromise that would have let the Soviet Union off the hook and allowed them to continue their military adventures. Reagan would not compromise and it ultimately resulted in freeing all of Eastern Europe from the Soviet Union. The world is more free today and will stay more free because Reagan was President at an important time in our history.

These incredible historic accomplishments are the foundation for the love so many have for Ronald Reagan. Even many who don't understand exactly who he was and how he did it, still understand that his enemies were wrong. He was the overwhelming transformational figure of the 20th Century.

In Duncan Currie's blog
Whose Reagan Is It, Anyway? commenting on the Panesh article, there is a listing of other great books that document Reagans record of greatness. As we continue to deal with the growing catastrophe of Barack Obama, who is trying to return us to the Keynesian disaster of the Jimmy Carter era, someone needs to start explaining conservatism the way Reagan did. They need to find a way to apply conservative answers to today's problems but without calling them conservative.

That is the real Ronald Reagan.

Rick Perry Explains How It's Done

I got to speak extensively with Rick Perry on a visit to North Carolina to talk about business. I thought he was a very impressive man. He spoke all day about the need to support business competition, not business regulation, as the key to job and wealth creation. He seemed to understand more than any politician I have ever met that America's greatness is due to being a nation of free enterprise that leads to personal freedom. Ronald Reagan understood that, but I never got to meet Reagan.

In a time when many states are experiencing fiscal crises and economic decline, one state stands out above all others as a success story: Texas. I recently heard Governor Tim Pawlenty say that during the year or so before job growth turned negative and the country as a whole was still adding payroll jobs, 53% of all of the jobs created in the U.S. were created in one state: Texas. No wonder that Texas' government is running a surplus and its economy remains strong despite trying times.

Confused U.S. Has Lots
To Say About Health Care

by Dana Milbank - July 2nd, 2009 - Washington Post

Introducing President Obama at yesterday's online town hall discussion, senior adviser Valerie Jarrett encouraged viewers to go to the White House's official site on Facebook.com, telling them: "As health-care reform moves through Congress, it's very important to President Obama that we take the time to engage the American people."

Well, Mr. President, consider them engaged -- but perhaps not exactly in the way Jarrett intended.

On the Facebook page, to which visitors to WhiteHouse.gov were referred with instructions to "join the conversation," the president and his aides were treated to the full range of American public opinion, in the form of thousands of raw and unfiltered posts. Some of those who weighed in were profound, some were less so, and a few should probably have their Internet privileges taken away:
... every few minutes, somebody named Brian Taylor, his Facebook photo a picture of a young boy, posted the same message: "OBAMA I DONT WANT THE WORLD TO END IN 2012 CAN U STOP IT??????????????"

One thing at a time, Brian.

More and more I am bemused about how Obama continues to maintain his support when lie after lie is exposed. On both health care and cap-and-tax Obama will raise taxes on the middle class to support his "community organizer" commitment to the poor. This is clear. No one can doubt that unless they simply suspend their willingness to think the issue through.

Obama has repeatedly said things that are totally the opposite of earlier things he has said and yet he never pays a price for this duplicity. There has been a long time explanation for his ability.

No one in history has learned to fake sincerity better than the Magic Marxist Messiah. Nobody.
